We write because we Blog or We Blog because We write

I am constantly amazed that so many talented writers are able to co-exist in the Blogosphere. Unfortunately, many of these burgeoning novelists, poets, and essayists have become lost in the technological sea of many. After a brief discussion with a group of fellow writers, we've come to the conclusion that the publishing industry is in dire need of a 9-11 makeover.

Had it been up to the mainstream publishing industry, we would not have seen the likes of such successful authors, e.g. J.K. Rowling of the Harry Potter series, whose manuscript was tossed onto a "reject" pile. After an editor's assistant began reading it, she convinced her boss and other colleagues of Ms. Rowling's talent. The "rest" as it is often said, "history".

Writing is a soulful exercise, and done best when the truth is told, no matter how painful it is to the writer or reader. The drama coach at my high school once referred to writing as "sweet agony". An English teacher later said, "the best writers are merely self-conscious actors". I have learned in life, everything we do...whatever it may be, is just an acting job. We all play minor parts in the movie that is our life. Whatever we magnify, good or bad, comes back to us in Dolby stereo. The world outside of us is a reflection of the world inside of us. So let me see it. Just a peek. I promise not to tell a soul. Besides. I think you are as beautiful as yellow snow on a hot summer's day.

Joie, you have the heart of a lion and the soul of a writer. Heaven help you!

Besides. I think you are as beautiful as yellow snow on a hot summer's day. That's what I was trying to say to all the lovely Bloggers today.

Yes, the publishing industry needs a makeover. Capitalism has become a bit of a weird place in some regards. They all think they can manufacture superstars. The real talent is not even recognized any more.
Good luck with your novel... and yes, we blog because we write. A potential audience sits behind every mouseclick.

Well said, ENNYMAN. I could not agree with you more. If a book proposal isn't contrived or gimmicky, the industry heads jump into each others arms. Holy Terror.

Thanks so much for your encouragement. I look forward to visiting your Blog!

I, too, find it amazing that there are so many writers out in the Blogosphere and so many seem to get along. There doesn't seem to be any animosity or competitiveness. In fact, they all seem to help each other.

Awesome post.

Beautiful Contradiction. I love the paradox! It's similar to When Ugly Was In-the punchline for beautiful people living in an ugly world. The world we've created in cyberspace is a reflection of our inner world. What others see in the physical realm is temporary. What they cannot see lasts a life time.

RT…I agree with ..we all play parts in the movie that’s our life …but disagree on the roles we play… you think they are minor … I believe we are the stars of our shows …we create the script, decide the intention, choose the delivery and own the results. Is the world outside us always a reflection of our inner self? For many of us yes (good or bad)...but also there are many...many people living is horrible situations, that have learned that regardless of the constraints life may be inflicting on them …their true freedom and bliss lies in the safe sanctuary of their minds.
All that being said…really enjoy your blog!

Suzi, Thanks for your perspective. And yes, I agree that our mind is a sanctuary, but I also believe true bliss occurs when we truly love our souls. For the spirit is the True Temple. The mind can be tortured by replaying memories of the past, and previewing (unfairly) an uncertain future.

When I say the inner world is a reflection of our outer world, I refer only to MY REACTION. No matter what is done to my body physically, nobody can take away HOW I THINK OR FEEL ABOUT MY HOPES AND DREAMS FROM WITHIN.

You're obviously a very insightful person. Your comments have caused me to be more succinct in how I express what I'm thinking in the moment. And I encourage you in your pursuit of peace.

Lotus from Asia! I also love the facade of the internet. I enjoy the world of make believe. Because in the end, we can hide from each other. But we we cannot hide from ourselves.

Thank you for allowing me to peek into your world. And thank your for quietly observing mine. Take all the bliss. Bask in the joy that glows from your flat screen monitor.

I think writing
i suppose
its just an excuse
to say those things
i want to tell specific people
but am too afraid to say

and they never read it
and they never know
but you let other people read it

and blogging,
its about becoming okay with that.

For some reason, RT...since reading this...I've been having this idea to just write, but I'm stuck about what to write about. My blogs tend to focus on little things, but lately, I've really been burdened to make a statement. The ideas are there, but I'm having the hardest time writing things. Thanks for the comments about owning my writing. It's been inspirational.

HappyIan, sometimes when I write, I feel as if another person is speaking through me by osmosis.

Hey rt, thanks for the feedback. You have a very interesting blog yourself. I never really even thought about publishing my work as I never considered it publishing material. But I might check into it some day if I stick with it. I always did want to write a book. Maybe one day. Well, thanks again!

You nailed it. I've subscribed to you - I think you can teach me a few things.

Okay, I'm a little embarrassed to have you check out my blog now, seeing as you are a proffesional writer and all. Hell, Most of the comments I just read were well over my head. You do all make a very good point though (I think..LOL).

PEACE :)

Hey, M. /smith. We're all professional writers. We write what we know and we know what we write.

Truth, and humor are a great unifying force. Your blog speaks to the truth of YOUR LIFE. That's what's key.

Thankyou! I needed the encouragement. Although I do have a lot to learn when it comes to writing, I guess what matters more is that I'm speaking from my heart and telling the world how I feel along with allowing others to relate to my story and my life. Thanks again, Mildred
