Will All the People Who Hate to Laugh, Please Stop Laughing!

Does anybody think Saturday Night Live is funny anymore? I watched last night's episode, didn't laugh, guffaw, chortle, or cackle; not once. Their skits aren't funny. Granted. I'm not exactly a barrel of under-ripe apples, either. But honestly. What are they doing? What are they not doing? Comedy writing is tough. If it were easy, stand-up comedians would be funnier. And the writers strike would still be going on. As you can probably tell, I'm not in a funny mood today. Who can blame me, after that pathetic excuse for entertainment called SNL. Your thoughts?

I have to agree with you on this one. Sometimes, the actual actors on the show appear to be the only ones finding themselves funny.

I'm personally from the Chris Farley/David Spade/Adam Sandler era, and I so miss those days.

Glad to see I'm not alone!

You're right on target about Farley, Spade and Sandler. Improvisation has gone right out the window. I think a lot of these comedic actors don't understand the nuances of timing and delivery. They're too in love with the sound of their voice.

Laughter is making a come back! We're the New Black! Thanks for stopping by!

That show used to be soooo funny. Then Mad TV came on and they were really funny. Maybe it's a combination of timing in society and the right mix of people. Steve Martin, Bill Murray, Dana Carvey, Molly Shannon the list of amazingly funny graduates go on and on. Give it a few years, it will be funny again. For some reason Justin Timberlake is very funny--he's even funnier when he isn't supposed to be funny like in that video with the rapper I was laughing the whole time. Some of SNL also depends on the guest host.

I'm only a semi-recent fan of SNL so I'm from the Jimmy Fallon/Chris Kataan era and I miss them terribly. SNL isn't something I spend my time watching anymore, for the reason you just blogged about.
